For your own benefit, Alan you’re fired!

Monday, March 16th, 2009

The final of Comic Relief Does The Apprentice aired on Friday night, as part of the fundraising extravaganza.

With the girls having won the challenge, it was down to which of the boys was going to be fired. Sir Alan questioned how the “Swapbelt” product would ever get off the ground, believing the business model was all wrong. Gerald Ratner disagreed, saying he would rather take advice from Gok than someone pushing figures. When asked which two should return to the boardroom, Gerald allowed Jonathan and Gok to go, leaving Alan, Jack and Gerald.

Down to the final three, Sir Alan knows why they are there. Gerald the respected business man who got carried away with other people’s ideas, Jack the miserable individual who put as much in as he can and Alan the nice guy who got stuck with them.
As a result, Sir Alan fired Alan, saying “I’m doing you a favour; I don’t want you mixing with these people.”

Girls Take Victory for Comic Relief Apprentice

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

The Girls have taken victory in Comic Relief Does The Apprentice.

The teams had to design, develop and pitch a toy suitable for the 5-8 age range. They were then required to give a presentation to a group of industry executives who will make the toy on behalf of Comic Relief for the winning team.

The Girls designed a velcro suit for kids with the slogan, “Let’s Stick Together!” and after some research with the children in the local school, they brand their product “Stick Stuck”.

The Boys decided to go with a belt from which plastic toys can hang. The idea was that multiple designs of toys could be purchased and attached to the belt. The name of choice for their product was “Swap Belt”, gleaned from speaking to one child!

Both pitches were good, with Sir Alan look mildly impressed.

In the boardroom, the usual bitching began. Patsy raised the “difference of opinion” that she had with Michele Mone. It was however silenced all very quickly when Sir Alan picked a major flaw with the boy’s product, saying the manufacturing cost would be too high. The Girls had won!

Don’t forget to tune in to BBC One tomorrow to find out who gets fired!

Comic Relief 2009 Line-up

Next week a star-studded line up of celebrities will be facing Sir Alan, all in the name of charity for Comic Relief 2009. The girls’ team consists of Ruby Wax, Carol Vorderman, Patsy Palmer, Fiona Phillips and Michelle Mone. On the boys’ team, Jack Dee, Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, Gok Wan and Gerald Ratner will be joining forces in a bid to win the task.

The two teams have limited time to design a toy, create a TV ad campaign and pitch to toy industry experts. Sir Alan Sugar has the final word in deciding which team has come up with the most commercially viable product. The team whose toy doesn’t impress will face Sir Alan and his advisers Nick and Margaret in the boardroom.

Comic Relief – “The Apprentice”

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Hey did anyone see the Comic Relief red nose day celebrity “The Apprentice”?

I’m really pleased to see that girls team won – they were really quick off the mark to get selling whereas the guys spent too long planning. It’s been the same before, those with the fastest action often win in this race.

Was big Al right to fire Piers Morgan? or should it have been Alistair Campbell? …. maybe he should have just banged their heads together before asking them to leave the building by the fastest route. The window as they were on the 21st floor!
